Dzogchen Master
Khenpo Ngawang Palzang
1879–1941
Khenpo Ngawang Palzang, a renowned nineteenth- to twentieth-century Nyingma master, was born in 1879 in Derge, Kham. Recognized early for his spiritual gifts, he trained under Nyoshul Lungtok Tenpe Nyima, receiving profound Dzogchen teachings in the Longchen Nyingtik lineage. As abbot of Katok Monastery, he preserved Nyingma traditions, trained thousands of monks, and authored significant texts. Known for his humility and realization, he balanced retreat practice with teaching, leaving a lasting legacy in Tibetan Buddhism before passing in 1941.
